9th Alumni Meet of Disabled Soldier Students of QMTI:
A Celebration of Resilience and Inspiration.
The 9th Alumni Meet of disabled soldier students of Queen Mary’s Technical Institute (QMTI), Pune, was a remarkable and heartwarming event that brought together ex-students from various parts of India. The gathering was an inspiring platform where former students shared their success stories and life experiences, motivating the current batch of students to aspire for greater achievements in life.

The 9th Alumni Meet of disabled soldier students of Queen Mary’s Technical Institute (QMTI), Pune, was a remarkable and heartwarming event that brought together ex-students from various parts of India. The gathering was an inspiring platform where former students shared their success stories and life experiences, motivating the current batch of students to aspire for greater achievements in life.
Alumni Day
The first session of the event was presided over by Brig Mukund Kelkar, who wholeheartedly appreciated the initiative. He lauded the relentless efforts of QMTI in ensuring the successful rehabilitation of disabled soldiers through its vocational training programs and psychological counseling initiatives. Special mention was made of Col Dr. Vasant Ballewar, Dean of QMTI, for his dedicated role in mentoring and counseling the students to overcome challenges and regain confidence.
Alumni Day
The second session, held after lunch, was chaired by the legendary Padma Shri Murlikant Petkar, the “Chandu Champion” fame and an iconic alumnus of QMTI, who completed the Fitter course in 1968. In his motivational address, Petkar shared his personal journey, emphasizing that life is full of setbacks, but it is the determination to rise and make sincere efforts that can break barriers and make even the sky seem achievable. His inspiring words left an indelible mark on all present, especially the new students who saw in him a living example of resilience and success.

The event concluded with a vibrant cultural program, thoughtfully organized by the children and families of the QMTI student soldiers. Their performances added a joyful and familial touch to the alumni meet, leaving everyone with cherished memories of this inspiring day.
The 9th Alumni Meet truly reflected the spirit of QMTI’s mission – empowering disabled soldiers to lead a self-reliant and respectable life, and fostering a sense of camaraderie and inspiration among its students and alumni.
