The Chairman of QMTI

Major General Navneet Kumar is presently the General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Maharashtra Sub Area and is stationed at Pune. The General Officer is an alumni of The Central School, New Delhi, the National Defence Academy Khadakwasla and after undergoing training at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun was commissioned into the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles in Dec 1984.

An infantry man to the core he has extensive field and operational experience having undertaken multiple tours of duty in actively disturbed areas within the entire spread of the country. He has tenanted important staff appointments to include General Staff Officer (Operations) and Brig General Staff (Operations) in Super High Altitude Area in Leh. His operational command profile includes Headquarters of Assam Rifles and an Infantry Division in the North East.

Towards attainment of the status of a "Scholar Soldier he has pursued an intense academic schedule wherein he is an alumni of Defence Service Staff College, Wellington. He has also attended an International Symposium Course at Beijing, China and has also completed Advance Professional Programme in Public Administration from Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi. He is also amongst a select few to have undergone Higher Command Course at prestigious National War College, National Defence University, Washington DC, USA as well.

As General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Maharashtra Sub Area, he also holds the additional charter of Chairmanship of two premier tri service institutions, the Queen Marys Technical Institute and Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre, located at Khadki (Pune). The QMT1 is engaged in the conduct of rehabilitation training for our disabled soldiers, who have been injured in the line of duty so as to empower them to lead a life of dignity post superannuation. The PRC on the other hand provides for life time tertiary care of combatants having suffered severe spinal injuries during active duty and have become paraplegics/quadriplegics. Besides being GOC, Dakshin Maharashtra Sub Area, Chairman QMTI and PRC, his mandate includes Stn Cdr Pune and President Pune Cantonment Board.
